Cottage loving – pork ribs with texas rub

So, unless you are a vegetarian, ( in which case, our friendship might be difficult…) you love ribs.

Herein the rustic cottage pork rib – with a specialty home made dry texas rub.

I used my grandfather’s rub – and unfortunately ran out. Otherwise I could have loaded more rub onto those ribs. If you want to make your own texas style rub, it goes more or less like this:

Ingredients for a typical texas style rub:

  • Paprika
  • Salt
  • Garlic powder
  • I add onion salt and a fair bit of coarse black pepper

Proportionally, you ant more paprika and about half its amount in salt and garlic powder. Then, add a dash of onion salt and pepper to your liking. If your not sure, just taste the mix and adjust.

You can slow cook the ribs for about 1 1/2 – 2 hours at 350 in the stove in aluminum foil or on the BBQ without any foil. If you’re really a “BBQie”, apparently the wood chip BBQs make for a mean rack.
